JANUARY 10, 2008. Fred Newman of the struggling St. Louis Browns pitched a perfect game against the Waveland Bums on June 16th of season #2. Newman, who entered the game with an uninspiring 2-7 record, had some of the best stuff of his Nostalgia Baseball career. Unfortunately, fewer than 10,000 fans were on hand to witness the event. Newman has a 3.36 career era in the NB Sim. Surprisingly, he has pitched only 455 innings. When asked about his great performance, he noted the help he gets from the cavernous Memorial Stadium and the Browns' faithful who come out to watch the team. But Newman, a sinker-baller with a 2.20 G/F ratio, doesn't really need much help from the park. |
