Quick Start Guide GUIDE: Ten Steps to get you started right!

Get Yourself Set up....

Request a franchise in one of our leagues by going to our league page and deciding on a league you want to play in.
STEP #2: OPEN THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL
Watch your email for a message from Nostalgia Baseball confirming the creation of your franchise and installation code. If you did not receive an email from us, check your mail client filter, spam handlerm or junk mail bin. If necessary, allow your mail client to receive messages from craigslane@earthlink.net and cslane@nostalgiabaseball.net.
STEP #3: INSTALL YOUR LEAGUE
Install your franchise and league by clicking the
button and selecting Install New League from the popup menu. You will need your installation code. The code is case-sensitive, so enter it exactly as it was sent to you. It's best to copy and paste the code from your email.
STEP #4: FILL OUT A DRAFT CARD IF YOU ARE PART OF A NEWLY-FORMING LEAGUE
Fill out a draft card by clicking the
button. You can find detailed instructions on drafting here.
STEP #5: REGISTER AT OUR FORUM

You will also find trade talk and other special discussions pertaining to the league you joined.
Start the Learning Curve....
STEP #6: LEARN HOW YOUR LEAGUES EVENT FLOW WORKS
Click the
button to see when events are scheduled for your league! You will want to make any and all changes to your franchise before the event runs on our computers. Your software will detect the changes you make and try to upload those changes to our server automatically. If you are not using a full-time internet connection, you must click the
button and select Transmit Changes from the popup menu. After an event runs, you may get the results by clicking the
button and selecting Get Latest Packet from the popup menu.
STEP #7: LEARN THE MANAGER'S TOOLS
Click the
button and learn how to control the operation of your franchise via the rotation planner, pitching roster, batting roster, old timers fraternity, manager strategies, front office, waiver wire, and trades.
STEP #8: LEARN THE PLAYER CONTRACT SYSTEM
After each draft, you must sign your players to contracts. There are several types. You must decide which types to use for your players. In general, high-salaried players should be signed to a type 1 contract, the most affordable type. We recommend not giving out too many type 1 contracts, especially to mediocre players! Type 1 contracts to not have a waiver clause and can therefore be somewhat more difficult to trade, so you might get stuck with them. To examine or sign contracts, click the
button, then click the Ledger and Board Room buttons in sequence to active the popup menu that takes you to Player Contracts.
Note: If you are playing in a regional type league, then all players default to single season type 3 contracts when you sign them.
STEP #9: LEARN THE VALUE OF YOUR DRAFT PICKS
If you are a new owner, you should exercise great caution with your draft picks. There are only so many superstar players, and they will almost certainly be gone at the end of the first round. Therefore, first round draft picks are of crucial importance. Veteran owners are looking out for their own interests, not yours. We advise against trading first round picks until you are confident that you understand their value. You can view your draft picks by clicking the
button to get to your Draft Planner. Once in the Draft Planner, click the Menu button and select Check Draft Picks from the popup menu.
STEP #10: LEARN THE NOSTALGIA BASEBALL ECONOMY
The Nostalgia Baseball economy uses 'units' as its base economic measure. All franchises come in fiscally sound condition. But you can quickly ruin your finances by carrying personnel that you don't need. Since a franchise will operate continually over many seasons, you want to make sure you remain in good financial health. Franchises "go under" on a regular basis and come back in as expansion franchises. But starting from scratch in an extablished league is a daunting task.
