Season Flow

Nearly all Nostalgia Baseball's procedures are automated. The computer organizes every season into four discreet sub seasons: Draft Season, Transaction Season, Game Season, and Playoff Season. Each season has a set number of events. Every event yields what is called an update packet. Update packets are placed on the server and are accessible for download from within your owner's software. For more information, see the event flow chart.
Draft Season
The draft season consists of four events: A one-time, pre-draft transaction opportunity in which you can release players on waivers and/or make trades. Owners may use this opportunity, for example, to jockey for better drafting position by trading for draft picks higher up in the seed order. The remaining three events are: (2) the first draft iteration, which includes the first 4 rounds of the draft; the second iteration, rounds 5-8; and the third bidding iteration, rounds 9-16.
Transaction Season
The transaction season consists of three events, each of which provides an opportunity to release players on waivers, make trades, and sign contracts. Any, all, or none of these actions can be taken at each of these events. At the deadline date of the third event, however, all contracts must be signed, or players will drop from the rosters.
Game Season
The Game season consists of a variable set of linear events in which the actual season games are played. The total number of events depends on the kind of league you play in. Most leagues play 2 game events per week, each of which runs 7 calendar days off the schedule. That makes for a 13 week season with 26 total game events. Some leagues run 1 game event per week that runs 10 days off the schedule, making for an 18 week season with 18 total game events.
Post Season
The post (or playoff) season consists of three events, which correspond to the three rounds of the playoffs: wildcard series, division series, and championship series.

You can view the upcoming events for your league by clicking the events button from the software title screen.
Warning! To prepare yourself for the next event, you need to download and upload to the server. The owner's software does not make changes in real time, so it is necessary always to get packets and transmit changes in preparation for the next event!
