Award Voting
Award Voting for MVP and CY YOUNG takes place after the regular season (i.e., during the playoffs). From around the half-way point of the season onward, you can view the top 12 players contending on each of the two ballots (see click sequence in the diagram below). Note, however, that these are only the current contenders based on the most up-to-date season performances. Nothing is final until season's end.
Who gets on the Ballots?
Selections to the ballot are derived chiefly from "runs created" (RC) for batters and earned run average for pitchers (a park adjustment is applied to each player in both cases in order not to unfairly prejudice for/against players performing in extreme parks, and catchers' defensive stats are also taken into consideration). These calculations form a base-line set of 12 players on each ballot. Then, other performance factors are considered and can "bump off" those at the bottom of these initial lists.
Casting Ballots
Immediately after the season ends, the permission switch to cast ballots is enabled by the commissioner. Ballots are tallied in conjunction with the playoff divisional series (second round).

No more than 15 votes can be cast on either ballot, and not more than 5 votes can go to any single candidate. You may, however, use less than 15 votes at your discretion. When you are finished preparing the ballot, you can send the ballot either by clicking the internet button on the Awards Screen or by clicking the internet button on title screen. The owners of the winning players get 25 units apiece and a plaque to hang on the wall of their Front Office. For voting results, consult the League News report.
