A Brief Description

What's Nostalgia Baseball?

Nostalgia baseball is a captivating baseball simulation game. It's your chance to recreate classic baseball action using sophisticated statistical programming with real statistics from real baseball players. Own, administrate, and manage your own complete team in a league with 23 other owners. Nostalgia Baseball features player trades, injuries, bonuses, a waiver wire, stadium rights, multi-year contracts, and a comprehensive drafting program which allows owners to construct complete teams (starters, relievers, position players, and bench players).

Nostalgia Baseball uses thousands of statistics based on historical data to recreate baseball games.  All games are played on our own high-detail simulator. With 570 statistical fields for every season of every player's career, our simulator is one of the most sophisticated available, creating probability structures based on a wide array of variables, including (when available) home/road, left/right breakdowns, weather conditions, ballpark tendencies and much more.  The program normalizes the statistical performances of real Major League players from the past so that the owners can see how players from one generation might perform against another generation.

These normalized statistics are then pitted against each other in pitcher-batter exchanges that simulate real baseball action - offensive and defensive. Countless other true-to-life features of a baseball game are also represented - pitchers become fatigued, players get injured, fielders make errors, and batters get thrown out trying to stretch singles into doubles.  Put Willie Mays in Coors Field or bring in the 'Eck' to face Ty Cobb, the possibilities are endless.

How is Nostalgia Baseball different from Fantasy Baseball?

Unlike participants in fantasy baseball leagues, Nostalgia baseball owners play the role of active managers of their teams. You draft players from selected baseball eras, sign those players to contracts, keep track of your team's finances, and manage the on-field decisions of your players.

Nostalgia Baseball leagues continually cycle through a series of "eras."  Some eras may not be represented in your league. Each draft features 2 eras, one for regular player selections and one for supplemental player selections (only those owners who have actually invested in the supplemental system can use it).  We define an "era" as a preset and contiguous string of years in baseball history.   No player records beyond 2003 come into play at the present time. The players selected for each era are those whose major league debut occurs during that era.  Here's a list of the eras:

1893-1909 1930-1939 1960-1967 1981-1986 1999-2004

1910-1919 1940-1949  1968-1974 1987-1992 2005-2010

1920-1929 1950-1959 1975-1980 1993-1998

You control your Franchise!

You, as manager, control pitching rotations, batting lineups, defensive substitutions, and infield alignments, as well as individual players' propensity to steal, use the hit-n-run, and pitch out of trouble. Tremendous care has been taken by the creators of Nostalgia Baseball to faithfully represent on a player-by-player basis virtually every conceivable variable that affects the outcome of a game and incorporate it into the Nostalgia Baseball experience. In a phrase, Nostalgia Baseball is the whole package!
